Marafiq Participated in Saudi Water and
Power Forum in Jeddah
Marafiq
participated in the fourth annual Saudi
Water and Power Forum (SWPF) held from 1
to 4 November 2008 in Jeddah. Marafiq's
presence at the Forum reflected the
major role it is playing in the water
and power sector and the importance it
attaches to interaction
with international players in
this field.
Marafiq was one
of the major sponsors of the SWPF 2008
which attracted many participants from
the Kingdom, other GCC countries and
several European and Asian countries.
The conference
and exhibition at the forum were opened
by HRH Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Governor
of Makkah Region. He was accompanied by
Eng Abdullah Al-Hussain, Minister of
Water and Electricity.
The minister
visited Marafiq’s booth and appreciated
the company’s active participation in
such an important international forum.
He lauded Marafiq’s success in achieving
privatization of the water and power
sector.
Meanwhile, at a
private ceremony held on the fringe of
the conference, Mr. Thamer Al Sharhan,
president and CEO, presented
Marafiq's Sustainability Award to
General Electric Company which has
become the first company to bag this
award. The award is an acknowledgement
of its distinguished work and
contribution to the growth and
development of the industrial sector.
General Electric was nominated by the
conference organizing committee. Al-Sharhan
said that General Electric deserved the
award as it has adopted creative and
distinguished ideas as well as solved
several worldwide problems. It has also
contributed immensely in environment
preservation.
Mr. Joseph
Anees , President and Executive Director
of General Electric in the Middle East
and Africa, received the award from Mr.
Al-Sharhan on behalf of General
Electric.
