Waste Water Department, Yanbu is responsible
for dealing in the business line items for the
community as well as industries as described
below;
Waste Water Collection
System
There are 52 lift stations in Yanbu Industrial
City. Thirty six lift stations are designed
to collect sanitary wastewater and sixteen lift
stations are designed to collect industrial
wastewater. The main lift stations having three
pumps and other lift stations having two pumps.
Total length of the sanitary waste water collection
network is 484 KM and industrial waste water
collection network is 54 KM.
Wastewater Treatment
Plants
The Yanbu Industrial City has been provided
with two wastewater treatment plants. Both the
plants are located in wastewater treatment complex
in the heavy industrial zone.
SWTP
The Sanitary Wastewater Treatment Plant (SWTP)
is designed to treat sanitary sewage generated
by community and industrial areas to provide
safe irrigation water for the landscape development.
The design capacity of the plant is 27,000 cubic
meters per day, while the present daily inflow
to the plant generated by the community is around
15,000 to 20,000 cubic meters per day.
IWTP
The Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (IWTP)
is designed to treat pretreated industrial wastewater
from Yanbu Industrial City and provide reclaimed
water for fire fighting and other industrial
uses. Total design capacity of the plant is
24,000 cubic meters per day. The plant is designed
to remove contaminants from the wastewater to
the extent that it can be reused by industry
and/or discharged to the Red Sea, without causing
significant environmental impact to the coastal
marine water quality and the sensitive coral
reef ecosystem. The present daily inflow to
the plant is around 13,000 to 15,000 cubic meters.
Process Water
Process water is pumped from three storage tanks
in the power and water desalination plant to
the industrial zone users. The storage tanks
capacity is 120,000 cubic meters. Total length
of the network is 34 KM. Process water pumping
to industries at a pressure 5 bar, conductivity
7 umhos/cm and PH 7.5. The average consumption
of process water is 39,000 cubic meters per
day.
Potable Water
The pumping station in PSDP having three storage
tanks is essentially devoted to the filling
up of eight storage tanks at sites PS-1 and
PS-2. The total storage capacity of potable
water is 280,000 cubic meters. Total length
of the network is 527 KM. The pressure at PSDP
and PS1 is 3 bars while it is 4 bars at PS2.
The average consumption of potable water is
40,000 cubic meters per day. Potable water is
analyzed in different locations to ensure its
quality.
Pumping Station
at Sanitary Plant (PSSP)
The station is designed to supply irrigation
water to the system. It is equipped with 3 identical
pump units rated 1,200 cubic meters per hour.
at a pressure 4.0 bar. There are 4 storage tanks;
the total capacity is 80,000 cubic meters. Total
length of irrigation water network is 107 KM.
Pumping Station
at Industrial Plant (PSIP)
The station has two fixed speed pumps and two
variable speed pumps to provide reclaimed water
for fire fighting and other industrial usage.
There are two storage tanks at a capacity 12,000
cubic meters each. Total length of reclaimed
water network is 45 KM.
