In 2012, Marafiq signed an Industrial Water Supply
Agreement (IWSA) with Sadara Chemical Complex in Jubail.
The company agreed to supply water to the facility based on
a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) model for the next 20 years.
The Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) plant, located on the Sadara Complex in Jubail 2, is the first of its kind plant on the premises, built and operated by Marafiq. The SWRO plant is the largest captive water desalination plant in the Kingdom as it serves the Sadara Petrochemical Complex with 178,560 m3 of water per day.
The plant receives an unlimited supply of seawater from our extensive seawater supply network, which increases the desalinated water production capacity of the company in the Industrial City of Jubail. Marafiq initiated the supply of water in early 2014 and began full operations in December 2016. During this period, our team met unprecedented challenges and overcame them without any Lost Time Injury (LTI). Since then, the facility has received an uninterrupted water supply and continues to thrive as the company's long-term partner.
